National Rural Law and Justice Alliance

A national organisation working to achieve justice and equity in the provision of legal services and outcomes for all rural Australians.

All Australians should have access to justice and services, regardless of geography. Regional, rural and remote zones are, unfortunately, often disadvantaged in their ability to access the justice system and related services. People within these communities have limited opportunities to participate in the framing and reform of laws and policies which impact upon their lives and face barriers of isolation, distance and a lack of capacity to share their experiences with law and policy makers.
Laws which do not effectively respond to the needs of rural and regional Australians have a direct impact on social, economic and cultural wellbeing and limit possibilities to capitalise on personal and public potential. The National Rural Law and Justice Alliance believes access to justice for rural Australians is a human right, and as an organisation, it operates to ensure a responsive and equitable justice system that will foster community wellbeing.
